Unlock the potential of immersive training

Virtual, augmented and mixed reality technologies provide cost-effective training for any job requirement—from mastering basic skills to upskilling experienced workers.

Preparing your workforce for the future is critical

As industries, technology and the labour force change, so does the demand for job skills. For more than 30 years, Calian has worked with private sector, public sector, academia and defence customers to develop their teams—from new hires to advanced skills development. We specialize in developing skills that transcend industries, ensuring your workforce is not just keeping pace but leading the way.

Hydro Ottawa VR development suite

VR-enhanced electrical training

Calian’s VR training solution overhauled technician training for Hydro Ottawa, providing an immersive environment to learn procedures and how to use tools and equipment. The VR solution tracks skills development progress, ensuring trainee readiness for real-world electrical tasks.

Forensic nursing

Forensic psychology training in VR

We developed a VR experience to train medical staff in a forensic psychology setting, where there is a risk of violence and critical incidents. The VR trainer familiarizes clinicians with procedural tasks from the field of work. Calian worked directly with St. Joseph’s Hospital and McMaster University to develop scenarios for  nurses, doctors and other medical professionals to prepare them for in-field complex and possibly dangerous situations.

Market research

Gaining shopper insights on eye movements

Product placement is all about putting products where customers will see them. Calian developed a solution that captures eye movements to measure human reaction to packaging, colours, and placement in a retail space.

Replenishment-at-sea

Training sailors for supply while at sea

Resupply at sea is a complicate process, with sailors exposed to the weather and rocking seas. Using an immersive learning solution allows sailors to practice the process in a safer, cheaper environment before doing the job at sea.

Joint terminal attack controller

Improving judgement and decision-making

Calian developed an immersive solution to train joint terminal attack controllers (JTAC). This experience simulates tools and the environment, and using automated voice recognition teaches proper voice procedure and syntax for calling for fire.

Concept visualizer

Immersive mission planning and coordination

Planning military missions is complex. Using the concept visualizer, military planners can visualize their plans and how they will unfold over time.
